Outline Guide for Assignment 4: Final Research Paper
1. Introduction. To begin, provide a topic statement, research question, and a thesis or argument statement, which you will support with your research and discussion.
2. As context, briefly survey and explain the key issues. Of these, select two issues that you think have had the greatest impact on cultural sectors. Recalling the sectors discussed in Units 3 to 6, which do you think will be most affected by issues or trends? Explain why you believe this to be the case based on your reading and other research.
3. Explore a selected issue or issues with a case study that you are familiar with either through news sources or other involvement in your community or workplace.
4. What is your evaluation of the issues and trends for the sector that you have discussed? How have your course readings helped to place the issues and events you describe in context for you? How are the ideas presented in the readings and commentary applicable to your research question and case study? What does your case study and other research tell you about the current and potential field of cultural policy in Canada?
