This is the Signature Assignment that measures the Program Learning Objective (PLO) of Application and the Institutional Learning Outcome (ILO) of Integrated Learning.
During the BAOL program you have built a strong foundation in the principles and theories of leadership, and developed skills and competencies critical to leadership effectiveness. In this capstone course, you will review and integrate your learning analyzing how the application of leadership theories and concepts enhances your effectiveness as a leader. This assignment requires both research and reflection to connect and bridge academic learning with the complexities of leadership in the real world. And based on your research and reflections, you will create an action plan to continue to develop your leadership skills.
Application of Leadership Concepts Paper Guidelines
In a 12 page paper, analyze and evaluate the importance and impact of leadership theories and approaches, ethics, analytical inquiry, diversity and multiculturalism on my leadership practice. After examining each of these important components of leadership, conclude by reflecting on four critical insights gained into leadership and developing an action plan to enhance your leadership effectiveness.
The Application of Leadership Concepts paper must cite and reference 12 or more academic sources, and adhere to APA standards. Academic sources include textbooks, books and articles by recognized leadership experts, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
Analytical Inquiry.

Identify 3 strategies you use to analyze, compare and contrast data

Identify 1 ethical theory and/or practice that influences you as a leader

Define leadership and discuss its importance to you
Describe 3 strategies and/or behaviors that are essential to leadership effectiveness.
Discuss how you as a leader have or will apply each of the 3 strategies and/or skills to your leadership practice supported with specific examples.
Diversity and Multiculturalism
In 2 – pages citing and referencing three or more academic sources:
Define diversity and multiculturalism, and discuss its importance to your effectiveness as a leader.
Identify 3 strategies you as a leader can use to communicate inclusivity in a culturally diverse workplace.
Discuss how you as a leader can promote an organizational culture that values diversity and multiculturalism. Include a specific example(s).
Reflection
In 2 – 3 pages connecting the reflection with your analyses of leadership, ethics, diversity and multiculturalism, and teams:
Identify 4 important insights into effective leadership that you have gained during your BAOL program
Describe how your thinking and/or behavior has changed
