You are working at a community club and have been asked by your supervisor to develop an active play session for children attending an after-school program. There are only two children attending aged 7 and 9. Your first step is to complete preexercise screening risk stratification for each child prior to their attendance. After completing screenings for each child, you have determined the following information
Participant One – Ben aged 7. Complains of pain behind his right knee for last 2 months. Takes medication for asthma
Participant Two – Gina aged 9. She is allergic to grapes. Gina is also hearing impaired on the left only (no aid is worn)
Presuming that you are now able to continue working with the two younger participants, you are to develop the active play exercise session using the template provided.
In your session plan, you must include the following:
- Equipment required to conduct the session
- Warm-up activities/exercises (including duration, alternative options & instructional techniques/cues)
- Session activities/exercises (including duration, alternative options & instructional techniques/cues)
- Games (including fundamental skills such as throwing, hopping, kicking as appropriate for the children’s age and developmental stages, stability and coordination activities and instructional techniques)
- Cool-down activities
