In addition to reading relevant sections about positive psychology and how to achieve happiness in Chapter 14 of our text and going through the narrated version of my lecture notes, you will also watch a TED talk by following the URL below.

Do the following things before making your posts (adapted from Seligman, Rashid, & Parks, 2006)

a. Identify your top 5 strengths, and think of ways to use those strengths more in your daily life.

b. Write down 5 good things that happened in your life recently and for which you feel grateful.

c. Gratitude letter: Think of someone to whom you are very grateful, but who you have never properly thanked. Write a letter to that person describing your gratitude, and read the letter to that person by phone or in person. (You do not need to write this for the order***)

After you complete the above exercises, write 200 words or more, please talk about your thoughts about the effects of doing the above exercises on your state of happiness (the reading, the video, gratitude letter, etc.). You don’t have to agree with the positive psychologists, but you need write about all three activities. Provide citations (page numbers) wherever applicable.
