Who is More Likely to Commit Ethics Violations?
The one consistent finding from the literature on unethical practice is that males are more likely to violate the prohibition against sexual contact than females. Does this finding suggest that male professionals be asked to undergo more ethics training in dual relationship issues than female professionals, pay more liability insurance, or have stricter requirements for practice in any way? As part of this discussion, create a case study and then examine how you feel about what you wrote, especially about any biases you might find and why one gender might be more likely to violate an ethics code involving sexual conduct?
Case Study:
Create a case study of a therapist being involved with a client sexually without any reference to the gender of that client. Then replace the word therapist with Male Therapist and then Female Therapist. What differences do you see in who would be more likely to violate the prohibition of sexual contact with a client?
