Sports on Trial Analysis
After watching the trial the student will write an Analysis paper:
Analyze whether each of the elements of negligence are present for each of the defendants from the evidence presented in the trial.
Give a verdict for each defendant
Provide recommendations for Anywhere High School and its athletic department policies and procedures to reduce likelihood of future incidents.
Papers should be 3-5 pages long. Use Times New Roman, 12 point font, double-spaced with 1 inch margins. Your name should be in a header for the paper (LAST NAME, FIRST NAME: SM540). Please use a subheading for each defendant.
Plaintiff:
William Brown, high school football player
Defendants: (analyze them in the following order)

Anywhere High School Athletic Director, Bill Todd
Team Doctor, Dr. Allman
Anywhere High School Principal, Mr. Silcox

The school board is the legal entity responsible for the actions of the district and the group of people who have the final decision making power in hiring school personnel. They use the recommendations of the building principal in hiring teachers and coaches. They use the recommendations of athletic directors in hiring coaches. The coach reports to the athletic director for athletics and to the school principal for teaching position and athletic position. The athletic director reports to the school principal. The school principal reports to the district superintendent. The district athletic director reports to the district superintendent. The district superintendent reports to the school board.
