Apply an ecological model to explore factors that contribute towards mental well-being and mental disorders.
Aim
People from marginalised populations, such as a person from a non-English speaking background, a First Nations Person, an older person, or LGBTIQ person, often have an increased risk of mental illness and mental disorders compared to people from non-marginalised populations.
The aim is to utilize Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model to explain the impact of extrinsic or ecological levels on a person from a marginalized group.
