1.) Identify the cause of the problem .
2.) It is important to also look past the incident. It is often the point of view of the situation that leads to the conflict. As the tension builds, the two parties start attacking each other instead of addressing the real issue.
3.) Go to each party and request solutions. After getting the parties’ perspectives, the next step is to ask them to identify ways in which the situation could be changed .
4.) Identify solutions all parties are willing to support. You are listening for the most advantageous course of action. Point out the various advantages and disadvantages of each idea.
