Participants
Who was in your study? How many total? How many men and women? What was their background? How old were they?
This subsection serves two goals: listing of your materials and apparatus, and going into detail about your experimental design.
In the materials paragraph(s) tell the reader the actual things you used to test your hypothesis.
Did you use a computer, an online survey, a hard copy survey, a picture, questions? It may be too unwieldy to list every question you used, so give one example of each type, then refer the reader to the Appendix. The Appendix should appear at the very end of your paper and include your actual materials: a scan of the survey, a list of your questions, a copy of the picture you used, etc.
In the design paragraph(s) tell the reader more about your variables.
Describe to them what you mean when you speak about the levels of your independent variables; it may not be entirely clear why you said “high vs low” in some variable.
Describe your dependent variable at both the conceptual and measurement level. Basically, you should be defining the labels you used for your variables and levels so that the reader knows exactly how you came up with certain categorizations of participants and conditions.
