ASSIGNMENT 2: Essay 1
Curriculum and Policy: Critically evaluate the role your subject plays in contributing to the spiritual, intellectual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils. How have you experienced this in your own teaching? Is anything missing from your own curriculum, with regard to this policy, that should be added in your opinion?
This question is asking you to evaluate the role your subject can play in this and a good counterargument would be to consider ways in which it does not.
Do not describe or explain the concepts of SIMSC, your marker can read about them if they wish to, and do not spend time discussing what the DfE documentation says about them, just reference them and say that you will use these definitions (if you want to).
It is hard to suggest reading for this and it is expected that there will be fewer references, however you must still adhere to the criteria on the mark scheme so please do read.
You can read from the subject specific lists and also read around philosophy and PSHE literature may be on interest. The following is on the PGCE reading list:
