MICRO-MACRO LINKAGES: The gender equality – economic growth debate
This Workshop will discuss the relationship (if any) between economic growth and gender equality. We will consider issues of causality and the theoretical (micro and macro) origins of this relationship closely. We will also investigate the evidence (both case study and cross-country empirical studies) that purport to support such a relationship, looking critically at issues of measurement and causality.
Discussion topic: In what direction does the causality between economic growth and gender equality run?
What theory and evidence supports such a relationship?
