3. Summarize Digital Story
For the final assignment students will create a digital summative that demonstrates critical reflection on the knowledge, experiences and skills gained by the student through participation in this course. This will afford students an opportunity to amalgamate content covered over the duration of the course into a study of an individual topic of interest related to their nursing goal(s) as outlined in Assignment

#1. Students will examine their topic from a “two-eyed seeing” perspective, asking, “What knowledge is available on this topic in nursing literature, including peer-reviewed journals, course textbooks, policies and best practice guidelines, and how are the perspectives of Indigenous peoples accounted for in ‘what is accepted as truth’ or good practice?”
Each student will articulate how the issue is relevant to nursing by providing supporting quantitative and qualitative evidence. Students will then critically analyze how decolonization and reconciliation have been considered in their areas of interest by examining the topic using an Indigenous-centered approach. This should involve but is not limited to:
a. An introduction of the topic that is “situated” in a description of Settler-Indigenous relations, including the student’s unique relationships with the area of interest; b. Evidence of a thematic summary of the literature review conducted on the topic that incorporates sources of peer-reviewed and grey literature from Indigenous perspectives; c. A critical analysis of “what is known and considered best practice” guided by knowledge of Indigenous conceptualizations of health and healing; d. A summary of nursing’s progress on the road of reconciliation in the topic area framed by the 4 A’s of awareness, acknowledgement, atonement and action; e. A proposal on how to become a better ally in the process of reconciling the issue, referring to suggestions made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and UNDRIP; and f. Evidence of self-reflection on the strengths and limitations of the teaching-learning process undertaken in this course and important outcomes of the journey in the context of the student’s nursing practice (e.g. What will it mean going forward for how the student approaches nursing education, research, policy and practice?).
