Produce a piece of work which: identifies a clear problem in the sociology of sport and/or exercise and demonstrates an awareness of and grounding in sociological theory;

All MSc assignments will be marked in conjunction with the generic Level 7 assessment criteria, available in the Programme Handbook. In addition, the dissertation will be assessed using these more sociologically specific criteria:

Students are expected to have produced a piece of work which:

1. A)  identifies a clear problem in the sociology of sport and/or exercise;
2. B)  demonstrates an awareness of and grounding in sociological theory;
3. C)  locates the project within the field of appropriate literature;
4. D)  shows a consideration of appropriate methodological issues and

justifies the methods adopted;

1. E)  conforms to the conventional academic standards in relation to

presentation and referencing;
