Culture and Health: how culture shapes national responses and attitude towards health crises.
Using the case studies of Western countries like UK and USA compared to Eastern countries such as China and Japan and Middle eastern countries such as UAE dealt with epidemics/pandemics like SARS, COVID 19 and HIV/AIDS.
Aims (this is just a rough idea but if you want to write different aims that’s ok but just general idea of what I mean please don’t use these exact words)
- To investigate if eastern countries like China due to their culture and political regime are more likely to obey their government with laws and restrictions put in place because of health crisis and if Chinese government’s secretive nature and censorship has led to misinformation and delay in their national response
- To investigate if cultural barriers towards homosexuality shaped the lacklustre and stigmatised response towards AIDS specifically in USA
- COVID 19 and to investigate the culture of ‘face-masks’ and why eastern countries were far more willing to wear as opposed to western countries that saw it as an infringement on their freedom.
