What is the author trying to say? And what does he suggest “we” need to do in order to have a “better” society? How does this differ from what we see in society today
How does C. Wright Mills’ “Sociological Imagination” play into this?
And perhaps offer different solutions/options in working with societies and cultures …
So, What do we know about “race” in American Society? What are the “roots” of race relations in America? How has it been manipulated, changed, and used against various groups …
And how might race relations be different if we applied the ideas from the “Calling All Sociologists” into the plan?
Why are the workers making the beads eating cucumbers?
What factors do you believe bring about the conditions for these folks?
What could/should be changed to give them grapes?
Should some have to endure hardship, so others can enjoy less expensive “stuff”
If you were a sociologist for, say Tulane University in New Orleans, what would be a “workable” solution to the plight of the workers in China, so folks could still enjoy Mardi Gras? What would be needed for BOTH groups to get “grapes” … what might the obstacles be to getting grapes?
How Might the Ideas in “Calling All Sociologists” have helped these folks in power looked at things through the eyes of a sociologist?
