MODULE ASSESSMENT BRIEF AND GUIDANCE
Choose one area of specialist adult nursing practice. Critically evaluate nursing care innovations and specialist nursing roles taking into account contemporary local, national and international influences affecting your chosen area.
Learning outcomes: The intended module learning outcomes are that on completion of this module students should be able to: Clarify the following

• Your area of care
• Specially nurse role
• Innovation
• How Local/national/international will be covered.
1. Critically discuss the implications and impact of contemporary adult nursing issues on care provision and service delivery
2. Evaluate adult nursing care innovations and roles in specialist environments
3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of local, national and international issues affecting the development of nursing practice
Introduction The introduction should begin with a general statement to introduce the main subject area and to set the context for the discussion. You need to state:
• The chosen area of specialist adult nursing practice and the role that you are going to explore.
• Identify the relevant contemporary issue(s).
• Identify the innovation(s) and innovative practice that will be discussed
• Introduce how you will structure your work and how you will relate to local, national and international issues affecting your chosen area
There is an expectation that you will use a broad range of supporting literature to evidence your writing. This means that you should be searching LOCATE for relevant peer reviewed journal articles and appropriate books to help you to develop your discussion.
• Critical discussion of your chosen contemporary issue that links to the area of specialism that you are going to discuss
• Critical discussion of specialist nursing role you have chosen to explore and the related nursing care innovation(s) –how and why were these developed? What is the evidence base? How effective are they?
• What are the local, national and international debates around the contemporary issue you have chosen and the innovation(s) and specialist role(s). You may choose to compare what is happening locally and then nationally to one other country.
• Critically discuss future possible developments locally, nationally and internationally 1500 – 1,600 approx
