Introduction
Proposed changes in drug control policy often evoke strong reactions despite major historical shifts in US drug policy (e.g., prohibition; the War on Drugs). For this discussion, we will be looking at whether or not the five-schedule classification of controlled substances is outdated and in need of revision, and, if it is revised, which drug classifications are most in need of revision. Be sure to take into consideration new knowledge regarding drugs and substance abuse, shifts in the popular culture regarding the use of some substances, and the emergence of new recreational drugs in your post.
