Autism Spectrum Disorder
Claire is a 5–year–old female who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder since the age of 3. Claire’s functional level is moderate to good. Her motor skills are within normal limits.
Receptive language is intact but presents some expressive language limitations. Socially, she presents difficulties to imitate contacts with same–age peers but likes to interact and receive approval from adults. Claire presents two problem behaviors :
1) tantrums (she cries every time she is asked to stop playing and pick up her toys)
2) task refusal (she has difficulties following directions from parents). Her adaptive behaviors are appropriate request for preferred items/activities and compliance.
