Research Paper
Each student will complete an independent research project in this course. The research question and method of data collection you use must come from the GSS and be analyzed with SPSS. The paper will be due in stages throughout the semester. Thus, it is imperative that you submit all stages. You will receive detailed feedback on each stage enabling you to correct problems prior to final submission. Rely on information from your text in drafting your final paper.
Assignment 1: Research Proposal
In this assignment, you will provide details on your intended topic for social research. This section should serve as a guide to the first draft of your research paper introduction (you will have additional work to do on your introduction as the paper progresses in stages). As you select a topic for research, keep in mind that this project is large and will be with you for the entire semester. Therefore, it is recommended that you choose wisely! The following information must be included in this section:
• What do you intend to research?
• Why is this topic important?
• What are your research questions?
Use Times New Roman 12-pt. font. If you use outside material, please use ASA (American Sociological Association) or AAA (American Anthropological Association) format.
