Assignment: Choose one of the medications on the sign-up sheet that interests you. Up to 5 points may be added to your lowest exam grade based on the numerical values listed below.
Part I – This is divided into five areas which are to be titled in bold lettering as noted below. Give a brief and concise explanation in full sentences to describe each area.
- Medication Generic and Trade Name: Include both and distinguish which name is the generic and which is the trade.
- Medication Classification: What class of drugs does this medication belong to? In a few sentences describe the class.
- Medication Action: What does the medication do? Explain in terms a patient can understand.
- Medication Indication: Why has the health care professional prescribed this medication?
- Dose/ Route: What is the most common adult dose and route? Is it by Kg?
Part II- Discuss safety considerations specific to the medication chosen.
- Medication Side Effects/ Adverse Effects: This includes common effects and those that requires medical attention. Give three of each.
- Medication Contraindications: This includes other medications, foods, other medical conditions, activity, etc.
- Drug Schedule and Pregnancy Category. State schedule and category and briefly define each
