The Kitchen Factory
The Kitchen Factory produces four different kitchen units: Mars, Venus, Jupiter and
Saturn. Each unit needs three different materials: glue, panels and Formica for the
tops. Each unit is made by gluing and fastening these together and then finishing them.
The units each use different quantities of materials and take a different amount of time to
assemble and finish.
You are told that in the next production cycle, you have the following available:
● 5,800 quarts of glue;
● 730 hours of assembly and finishing;
● 29,200 sq. ft. of panels;
● and 60,500 sq. ft. of Formica for tops.
Further assume that each pallet of Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn can be sold for
profits of £450, £1,150, £800, and £400 respectively.
