The four elements are:
1. Material Religion / Architecture – material objects/artifacts and architecture. Architecture includes both external design and interior decoration.
2. Dogma / Doctrine – While these words have subtle differences, for the purposes of the essays, assume this element to mean Doctrine – the official theology of a religion.
3. Ritual – All the ritual activities associated with faith – from private home-based rituals to public rituals such as burials, rituals performed within sacred buildings. Integrate the use of music in this category.
4. Religion & Society – What is the relationship between a formal, institutionalized religion and the surrounding society and the relationship between private, home-based beliefs and society.
