In Class Practice – What do you do to care for yourself?
2. Identify your experience(s) with death. Describe the affect this/these experience(s) had on you and your perception of dying, death, loss, and grief.
3. Identify the characteristics of a good death and the characteristics of a bad death.
4. Pain is thought of as the sixth vital sign. Describe your experiences with pain. Describe the comfort measures and strategies you use to relieve pain.
5. What does food and the act of cooking and eating mean to you? How would you feel if you could no longer enjoy your favorite meal or sit and socialize with friends and/or family over a meal?
6. Explain the phrase “Dying is the perfect storm for delirium”. What scares you the most about caring for the dying person?
7. Dyspnea, fatigue, mouth discomfort, nausea and vomiting, bowel, and bladder incontinence…how do you empathize with a person experiencing these symptoms vs sympathizing?
8. Think about your own Advanced Care Plan if you could no longer care for yourself. What would be determinants of who you chose for your medical POA and your financial POA? What have you learned about MAiD? How do you feel about MAiD?
