You can argue either for or against, but either way justify your position with information from the play itself and bring in at least two secondary sources, things others have written about the topic.
For example, in classic Greek drama, the protagonist was supposed to be someone of high stature, a king or prince or someone like that.
Modern plays are usually about common people, so make allowances for that change in drama.
