COURSE OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of this course is to provide an examination and critical analysis of the American political process to determine the extent to which American democracy is truly democratic.
For example, does our political system tend to be biased in favor of elite interests at the expense of those of average citizens? In considering such questions, we will attempt to uncover some of the basic motivations which guide political decision-making in the United States.
What are the main goals of politicians and how do those goals influence their decisions?
