Basic premise Prepares citizens at the grassroots level to focus on economic and social development that will last; uses intensive asset mapping, particularly in the economic arena, and builds capacity.
Community practice model Organizing functional communities
Basic premise Brings together people focused on a particular cause to change people’s behaviors and attitudes; not necessarily place based; focus designed to facilitate empowerment.
Community practice model Capacity development or neighborhood and community organizing
Basic premise Focuses on development of community capacity and integration through self-help; very process oriented. Asset mapping and capacity building are used.
