One of the Group prepare a scenario. Now as an opposite group we have to respond to some questions. You have to connect the question with FIT textbook and if needed from the case study.
Scenario: Your group is the new leadership team coming into a new startup e-commerce company that functions similarly to Alibaba, but has had its fair share of early problems.
Background: The previous leaders hired by the founder blamed all of the problems that arose on their subordinates and did not take any responsibility for their actions, they were defensive about any suggestions that might imply something was their fault, they seemed to be prideful and easily offended, and they did not care about establishing relationships with their employees beyond just telling them what to do because “they said so,” which lead to the constant micromanagement of the employees’ daily tasks. The company also seems to be stuck in a “Category 4, Dumb ideas and mandatory projects phase” as their initial platform seemed promising even with lots of risk involved financially, but they have yet to gain traction in a market already dominated by companies like Amazon, JD, and Alibaba. Not surprisingly, the founder has received many complaints and launched an investigation which has seen a swift dismissal of the leadership team involved. Luckily, these problems were discovered early enough.
Questions:
What seems to be low morale and previous leaders with low EQ? how do you plan to come in and address/begin repairing these previous issues based on the attributes of EQ: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Passion, Empathy, and Connections.?
