Assignment Title
Choose one specific aspect of either the language or communication development of deaf children. Review the literature and critically reflect on two interventions to support deaf children’s development in this specific aspect.
I have sent alongside this document the reference list of books and studies information can be referenced from for this assignment but if you find some other sources that are better these will also be ok to use alongside. I have also explicitly sent the pdf’s of my chosen 2 studies containing the 2 interventions to be critically reflected upon with reference to other material from the reference list or other sources you may find. In addition, I have sent other additional studies containing other interventions that are not the 2 I am focusing on but might be useful for referencing and finding information for this assignment. I have also compiled a help and info word document with a brief overview of content covering the assignment which may help.
Note: reference assignment. Include a range of appropriate and current sources to support you arguments? A range of 12-16 references is sufficient for this 4,000 word assignment. Reflective not descriptive and arguments/critique is supported by current and relevant literature.
Suggested structure of the assignment (I have numbered 1 to 4)
The assignment should include the following sections:
1 Introduction
• Outline the area of language or communication development you chose to focus on for this assignment (e.g semantics, grammar, morphology, phonology etc)
This assignment will be focusing upon the language development of deaf children within the areas of semantics, focusing upon vocabulary. Semantics morphology defined as the study of vocabulary, word meaning and categorization of different words (ref). This assignment will review literature and critically reflect on two studies that conducted interventions to support deaf children’s development on the acquisition and understanding of vocabulary.
• Discuss, with reference to relevant and current literature, why you chose to focus on this area.
• How did you get interested in this area?
• Why do you think this area is important for deaf children? You can refer to specific children you work with to illustrate the importance of this aspect of language or you can use the literature to do this.
