Pathophysiology for Health Care (500 Words)
In this assessment task you will be provided with suggested therapeutic approaches for a case study which includes relevant patient information. You will apply clinical reasoning to explain the rationale for therapy. This individual assessment will require you to submit a 500 words summary for patient education and/or communication with another professional within a multi-disciplinary health care team. Within the task you will be required to explain, using language appropriate for the other person:
• the pathophysiological basis for the patient’s health condition.
• rationale for therapeutic approaches for that patient.
THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS
The following interventions are planned during the immediate phase of Mrs Ng’s hospitalisation.
• Titrate intravenous glyceryl trinitrate infusion for chest pain; stop infusion if systolic BP is below 100 mmHg. Administer 2 to 4 mg of morphine intravenously for chest pain unrelieved by glyceryl
trinitrate infusion.
• Explain the purpose of percutaneous coronary intervention.
• Explain the need for frequent monitoring of vital signs.
• Repeat ECGs and Troponin level determination.
