Helping people and putting smiles on their faces is an inherent innate part of me. I find joy in putting smiles on people’s face either such input from me gets noticed or not is immaterial, I still find joy replicating it. I have done this in non-healthcare setups but an event happened that totally re-oriented me hence my decision to officially learn the art of caring and continuously offer it as a lifetime objective, creating a career in it alongside pursuing my innate joy of care and compassion to people.
My wife, also a nurse got pregnant and has some life-threatening complications, I was in and out of the hospital with her for a period of over 5 weeks. I imagined what it would have been if there were no nurses around to offer the high level of compassionate care we received during the whole process. We were constantly reassured all was going to be right even when it was hard for me to believe. At the end of the whole period, I made a decision to be of help to others the way I have compassionately received help from a system of professional nurses.
In the course of my professional career as an engineer, I have had to deal with gathering, interpreting and evaluating complex data to make informed decision to prioritize issues, this skill I have also noticed in the very successful nurses I have interacted with while visiting health care environments. I believe this skill coupled up with my desire to go the extra mile to show care and compassion will make me an outstanding professional nurse.
I have displayed great mastery of dealing with people with various backgrounds in all ramifications- culture, academic background, social and religious inclination in the course of my professional career, I have led large number teams, typically greater than 100 to achieve remarkable success that got commendations from internal and external observers, this skill obviously will be transferred to my nursing career which will make me an outstanding care giver.
