1)Hogan uses some aspects of the typical novel, like getting readers to identify with a character, using symbolic features like a journey, giving us a love interest to root for — even while she interpolates features of Native culture like magic, oral traditions, and herbal lore. Does Hogan give us that most-expected novelistic feature, “closure”? Explain your answer
2) Hurston’s depiction of her characters’ speech has been controversial since this novel was first published. She was an anthropologist before she was a novelist, though.
