Goals of assignment:
1) To apply what you’ve learned in class to stuff you find relevant in the real world
2) To give you practice in thinking about phenomena like a moral psychologist would
Format:
• Write your journal entry in a Microsoft Word document
• Entries should be approximately one page, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font
• Bold/highlight key terms that you include in your journal entry. A word bank will be provided for each journal entry. (Key terms not required, but may be helpful to you)
Topic ideas:
• Things that happen in your day-to-day life (e.g., a conversation you had, interactions with your friend group, etc.)
• Something that you remember happening in your past (e.g., childhood memories, past experiences)
• Something you saw in media (e.g., in a movie, song, op-ed piece you read, etc.)
• A real-world event or phenomenon (e.g., a current news story, a famous historical event, etc.)
What a good entry should include:
1) Describe a topic (see above for ideas)
2) Interpret the topic in terms of the class
3) Link that topic to concepts/vocabulary that you’ve learned about in class or your readings. Where applicable, use vocabulary from the word bank (e.g., “objectivity”, “humanity principle”)
4) Briefly define and explain whatever concept/vocabulary you’re discussing a little—don’t just vocab drop, show me that you understand the concepts
