Mergers and acquisitions
Look at the JustEat.com andTakeaway.com information including a list of
academic articles you should initially read as preparation, followed by a variety of
links to e-resources on these two newly merged companies.
The total word count for this assessment is 3000 words
Remember as you look through the information that this assessment is focused on
the organisational design (structure and processes) and cultural
(people/behavioural) challenges associated with a merger.
You should then write approximately 750 words per section (4 sections listed
below) – this includes relevant citations for each section which support your
answers.
The four sections ask you to do the following:
1. Briefly evaluate the importance of JustEat’s founding culture to its success and then
discuss the potential implications for the merger with Takeaway.com (25 marks)
2. Looking at the new Just‐Eat Takeway.com design, and thinking about its business
model, how does this align with theories/ideas about the structure and the
evolution of organisations (25 marks)
3. What challenges do you think JustEat‐Takeaway will encounter over the next couple
of years and why? (25 marks)
4. Provide some recommendations as to what the HR group might do to facilitate
communication and a feeling of unification between the two organisations (25
marks)
